Frank Burns reviewed Hench: A Novel by Natalie Zina Walschots

This was very, very good. Read in one sitting and absolutely compelling from start to finish.
The premise here is to say that superheroes are effectively natural disasters, given their impact just going about their day to day this is in then linked to serious academic work on the cost of these disasters which is measured in lost years. It's eye opening stuff.
However, this is all wrapped up in a very well executed thriller novel which comes at you. not from the perspective of the super "person" but from the perspective of the hired help. Because they all have hired help.
Engaging characters, razor sharp prose and a story that just flowed. A very impressive debut this.
Highly recommended.
