Ambrose Parry: Corruption of Blood (2021, Canongate Books) 4 stars

Review of 'Corruption of Blood' on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

The machine that is Brookmyre delivers to his usual high standard.
He and his wife are really getting into their groove with this series. They have settled on it being like a buddy, 'will they, won't they', private investigation shenanigans TV show. Set in 18th century Edinburgh, however. This book really gives a sense that this has clicked into place for them.
This allows a focus on the story and character development that keeps this one kicking along very nicely. As always, the historical detail is rich and fascinating but it is in service to the story.
Definite recommend as this is 4.5 territory right here.
