Frank Burns reviewed The Delirium Brief by Charles Stross
Review of 'The Delirium Brief' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
A re-read this. I read this series on release but Stross does crib-sheets of each of his novels on his blog. Going through the crib sheet I realised my recollection of this one was slight so I decided to give it another pass, and I am glad I did so.
It also seems I read this when I was in a period of not doing Goodreads reviews, so this was a good opportunity to drop one in.
Anyways, a strong 4.5 for this installment in one of my fave series.
This one dealt handily with the issue of 'once you have blown up a major city, where do you go next?'. An old adversary is brought back but that adversary is making a desperate bid for control of the UK as it runs from what has arisen in the US. Hard choices are made and a strong sense of merely being pawns in the games of the Elder Gods is conveyed.
Lots of juicy character development and enjoyable banter (a hallmark of the series).
Obviously recommended.
