Frank Burns reviewed A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine
Review of 'A Memory Called Empire' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
This was a 4.5! I can see why it has the buzz it has. An extremely well crafted story putting together an Aztec-like society, technological identity continuity through death, culture shock and a hidden big bad. Trust me, it works. The real shining jewel of this are the characters, well drawn, never quite what you expect and you engage with them early and they never lose their grip. Obviously recommended. A stunning debut.
