A husband and wife who both work in the hospital adopt a extremely troubled little girl (Janie) after being found by police in a parking lot half starved and dehydrated.
We see the story from 3 different perspectives, we have Hannah's story (the wife), Christopher's story (The husband) and Piper's story (The Social Worker). The book started off well, and you start to think that this story will have a happy ending. However this was not meant to be.
