this book started out quite humourously, but fizzled out quickly. recommended by a (usually) impeccable source, i didn't find the charm she saw. perhaps i read it too slowly, giving me the time to notice the repetitiveness and the overuse of profanity in order to shock. in retrospect, the one sentence review by Playboy on the dustjacket was a dead giveaway.

this jesus is called joshua (josh for short) and he starts off as an interesting character, but by the end, he's morphed into the stoic wise man we've all seen on tv. blah.

ultimately this book was a one-trick-pony that tired itself out in the first 100 pages. too bad the book goes on for another 300 plus...
