very well done, but then again, this book won the Pulitzer so it doesn't need me to establish it's credentials
Elwood is an earnest, bright boy. He devours MLK's words and is singled out as college-ready. A piece of random bad luck sets him in a reformatory school, and naiveite makes the situation worse. After a fellow student is introduced, Elwood as narrator seems to fade in and out. It is an absolute triumph to foreshadow the plot-twist thru this device.
add the poetic, full-circle ending and this was deeply satisfying read.
