Well, I haven't read the book. I read the extremely powerful and emotionally effecting short story that he later diluted into the book. I think the short story may well be influential on a lot of the present-day campaigns to find lost children, and to find and capture sociopaths who abuse and kill children.

The short story may be available in electronic form from sites that sell short stories electronically, I don't know, but the short story is recommended!
