When the book begins, it is hard not to be charmed by the main character. The scene opens with deep thought and long-winded detail. This amount of detail may become tedious in most books, but it is used perfectly in this instance, and it brings the world to life. The story is full of action but maintains a clear plot while ensuring room for the reader to think. I won't go into the story so as not to spoil it- but if you are a fan of fantasy rooted in the real world, you'll love this.

It was a fun read, very gay, but the plot seemed a bit all over, and at times it was genuinely hard to follow. The characters are generally well rounded, and Dylan is a hoot, but it still for some reason felt rushed. It feels like there are many events that are brought up, and then tossed out the window and never used. Without spoilers, the ending doesn't make a lot of sense, and the entire book sets up a different ending, then like other things in the book, tosses it out the window.
All in all, good read, but Becky Albertalli seemed out of her element for this one
