Loralee Evans: Felicity~ A Sparrow's Tale (Paperback, 2014, Loralee\Evans) 5 stars

Review of "Felicity~ A Sparrow's Tale" on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

This a story written by a book-lover for book-lovers. Felicity the sparrow has been enchanted with fairy tales and adventures ever since her ivory-billed woodpecker friend taught her to read as a nestling. One day an unusual stranger comes to Felicity offering the sparrow an adventure of her own and the narrative takes off from there. It's a wonderful tale of bravery that any young reader will enjoy. I highly recommend this first entry in the Felicity series.

Review of 'Ode to a Toad' on 'Goodreads'

4 stars

A fun, whimsical story for kids. Beyond just the species of the protagonists, An Ode to a Toad brings to mind Arnold Lobel's frog and toad adventures based on the writing style and interplay between the main characters. Children will enjoy following the adventure these toads embark upon while learning something about the perilous, real-life journey frogs and toads take every year to find a mate.

Review of 'Arabella and the Magic Pencil' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

A wonderful story that celebrates boundless imagination and creativity of children. Through beautiful illustrations and simple straightforward language, Ward manages to tell a sweet story that captures the complex conflicting emotions children can feel - about siblings, about the world around them and about themselves. This is a book that parents will enjoy reading each time (and it will be more than once) that kids request it.

A wonderful story, beautifully told. Raccoons and Rabbit Holes takes young readers on a fun adventure back in time. The well developed characters and dialogue will keep kids wanting to read more while the story teaches them the history of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. This is the best kind of book for an early reader - the kind that makes them want to pick up more books!
