Really enjoyed this book, hit the right balance between epic fantasy and not being ridiculously long (Wheel of Time I'm looking at you...). Although part of a series, the book ended at a definitive point which cleared up a lot of loose ends whilst still leaving enough open for me to want to read the next one.
Picked this up due to a reading group, never having heard of the author before. I found it a slow starter, and the ending felt like a let-down, but the core of the book was an enjoyable read.
Good enough that I'll read the next book in the trilogy at some point, but not so good that it gets bumped up the reading queue.
