Long, detailed, overly focused on character stories and backgrounds, but very thoroughly researched. The scope was large, but didn’t feel particularly well defined — is this a book about Vietnam reporting, or about Kennedy and Johnson? Or about the politics behind the build up and escalation of the Vietnam war?
