It's rare for the first novel of a series to so grip me as this one did. IT's the characters that did it; vivid, bold, with their own agendas, attitudes and a great deal of individual sexual preference...

The story is of course gripping, and Follett clearly writes for the adult market. A refreshing thriller to read, given the amount of YA I've done in this category recently.
