Content warning spoilers & slavery
Very nice fictionalized history of the early life of Eliza Pinckney. A very impressive woman who established indigo as a cash crop in South Carolina.
Unclear how romanicised her views on slavery are in this book, where she is depicted as a 'good' slaveowner. But at least the book does not otherwise try to hide the horrors of slavery.
