Steve Clark reviewed Running for My Life by Dragos Roua
Getting into the mind of an ultramarathoner
4 stars
An account of how he got into running and then went to extremes. An interesting read.
Eternally curious geek. Mostly read SF, fantasy and funny stuff. Also like popular science books and recently got into graphic novels. Looking for alternative to corporate platforms for logging this.

I really enjoyed this. As a programmer I am well aware of how maths mistakes can have big consequences. He has some great examples, some quite scary, but there is plenty of humour too.

Coping with getting older
I've been a fan of Mr Herring for a while. I listen to some of his podcasts and have seen him live a couple of times. I bought this book and got it signed at the last one. It is about him approaching 40 whilst living a life of excessive drinking and lots of partners and being a performing comedian. That was nearly 20 years ago. He is settled down with a wife and kids now, but he did seem to be off the rails then. He is quite honest about it all. I could empathise with some of it, but I had a much more stable life at that time. I'm sure some people would consider some of his actions disgraceful. An interesting read, but maybe not for everyone.

I was reading this in odd moments and decided I needed to finish it. Not my favourite of the series, but still good. I will put the next one on my wish list.
