הספר כתוב מעולה ונהניתי לקרוא אותו, אבל הוא גם הכעיס אותי כל כך תוך כדי -- כי אני יודע.ת יותר מדי טוב שהאמירות האייבליסטיות והיחס המזלזל כלפי הקהילה החירשת וכלפי שפות סימנים, שמתוארות בו, הם לא (רק) פיקציה שהמציאה הכותבת, אלא מציאות אמיתית וכואבת שחירשות וחירשים כמוה נתקלים.ות בו באופן יומיומי
קריאה מומלצת לכל מי שרוצים.ות להבין את המאבק של הקהילה החירשת קצת יותר טוב
the book tells the story of a hearing couple, Michaela and Arye, whose first child is born deaf, and of their difficulty in accepting that
the book itself is well written (though no english translation exists afaik?) but it also made me so angry throughout -- because i know all too well that the ableist things said by the characters, and the disrespectful and condescending way …

the book itself is well written (though no english translation exists afaik?) but it also made me so angry throughout -- because i know all too well that the ableist things said by the characters, and the disrespectful and condescending way that the characters see the Deaf community and signed languages, are not (just) a fiction made up by the author, but an all too real and painful experience encountered by her and other Deaf people daily
recommended reading for anyone who wants to understand the struggles of the Deaf community a little better (and, i guess, can read hebrew)

my only gripe is possibly that the "i had no idea i'm into men!" trope feels unrealistic to me as someone who grew up on the internet >_>
but otherwise i enjoyed this book very much

not a light hearted read, and i empathized with a lot of what went on in it (perhaps too much? 🙃) and learned, at least a little bit, about the difficulties of navigating a racist world as a non-white person
