I think I'll probably like this more if I read it again but on first attempt it feels purposefully jumbled. The abstract art style in some places works really well but most of the time I found it very jarring. It's hard to be annoyed at this being for a target market that bought these books over years and read them multiple times. But recognising characters drawn completely differently is hard.
There's also an Afterword that says "I thought about explaining some of this but nahh". Grrrr.
