Review of 'The Fold' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

Like 14, I loved this book. Mike is a great protagonist, fun to come to understand, and the other characters are also interesting. I love the metaphor of the ants: thoughts and memories, black and red. As I read more Clines, I'm coming to see that my love of his writing is in how he develops characters much more than the actual plot. His characters are interesting and usually develop through dialog. I also like being able to figure out what is going on about a chapter or two before it's revealed.

My only issue with this book is how much it parallels 14. In many ways it's the same story, the exact same story as far as plot goes. That said, I enjoyed the connection to 14 at the end.
