Review of 'Rules of Prey (Lucas Davenport Mysteries)' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
I first read this book in '91 or '92, and I've kept up with the series ever since. I'm not sure what drew me to read it again, but I'm glad I did. I like the old Davenport, but I'm pleased he's developed and changed over the series. Like our world, his world has changed a lot since 1989.
Despite being "just a mystery/thriller," this is like reading the past, which is why we should be reading generally: to understand others and our history.
This is definitely a fun cat and mouse thriller, and it is the start of an interesting series with outstanding characters.
