Review of 'Ledbury' on 'Goodreads'

This collection of early postcards shows much about life in Ledbury and the surrounding area from around 1900 to about 1935 but the pictures don't show much in the way of compositional merit. Hence this book is of much greater historical than artistic interest. I doubt it will appeal to many who have not at least visited Ledbury and probably most of the sales go to people who live there or nearby, as I once did, but it is an interesting record of changing lifestyles - clothing, transport, industrial and farming practices all changed considerably in the period and the images reflect that.
I was delighted to note the couple of photos of the women's cricket team, the oldest dating back to 1909. I had no idea that organised women's cricket dated so far back. I was even more delighted to note that in the 1909 photo, the women are …
