They're were a lot of gimmicks that didn't translate well to a book (scripted phone call with her dad that felt forced because yeah, he's not an actor, a bit about trying to sing but the reader stopping her). There's every chance this gets better later or that someone who follows Lauren Graham would love it, but it was rapid fire and kooky in a way that was almost Lorelai Gilmore but just a note or two off leaving it more hard to follow than whimsical and caffeinated.
