Erwin Rossen reviewed Doing Good Better by William MacAskill
Review of 'Doing Good Better' on 'Goodreads'
5 stars
What an eye opener! It is about how to have as much impact as possible with a limited amount of time and/or money for doing good in the world, advocated by a movement called Effective Altruism.
The book consists of two parts. The first part is about the principles behind Effective Altruism. Since I was already familiar with these concepts, it was nice to read but not world shocking to me.
The second part is how to bring these principles into action. Even though I had been reading about this before, it still surprised me in how many areas I am actually not following these principles. This part of the book is pure gold.
I think this book is a must-read for everybody who is interested in doing some good in the world, no matter how much.
I now feel like I have been playing around with a chess board and pieces all my life, making up my own rules, and am now finally learning the rules of chess from this book.
If anyone is interested in reading this book for themselves, there are several places where you can get a free copy, e.g.
