I bought this because r/Fantasy said it was amazing.
It is amazing.
It starts off as quiet politics, and reminds me of the Ancillary books. And then there's a surprising amount of action. And then it gets quite sad (in a bit of a trope-y way but alright, fine), and then finishes very wistfully.
Clearly the eBook was on sale because the sequel is out. I kinda hope it doesn't follow on from this book, as I think that finished nicely.
