‘Chevette never stole things, or anyway not from other people, and definitely not when she was working.’

So how's she going to explain the sunglasses? And not just any sunglasses, but this one, very special, very expensive pair, loaded with the data that threaten to utterly transform her city of San Francisco, State of Northern California, in the year 2005.

Definitely a good read - I galloped through it very quickly. If you're looking for science and technology, you won't find it here.
A bicycle courier acquires some augmented reality sunglasses, and various people, including a hitman and private security, trace her to get them back. One of the private security people defects. The book is set in California, but it has been split into North and South California, particularly around San Francisco and Los Angeles.
