It's high time someone added the latest #folklore works by @SimonRoyHughes@thefolklore.cafe to the Open Library records (and #Bookwyrm , of course).

@maxheadroom What's the best practice for adding entries vs. importing on #BookWyrm?
https://mythicisland.com/inverted_frontier_edges.php by @LindaNagata is not on https://books.mxhdr.net/author/7549/s/linda-nagata, but when I search I find many references on other instances that are all for the paperback. Is it "better" to add a new entry for the #eBook or just import one of the paperback editions. Are comments for the different editions correlated, or will my comments and review be isolated because they're for the e-book?

@mcrocker@books.mxhdr.net @maryrobinette Thanks for this delightful book I enjoyed it.
I am curious though... did the @ mention of you in my #BookWyrm review show up on your feed? I'm not sure if I should boost my book reviews from https://books.mxhdr.net/ here *and* post a comment with a mention of the author, or just rely on the mention in the review to do the job.
What would be your reaction if you came upon a library but didn't know what a library was... 🤔😂

The Fediverse's social reading platform BookWyrm lets you import your account data from Goodreads, LibraryThing, StoryGraph, OpenLibrary or Calibre. There are step by step instructions for how to do this here:
If you're wondering what the heck BookWyrm is, it's a Fediverse alternative to Amazon's Goodreads. There's an intro article here:

Hello fediverse!
I need your help to feature all of the amazing services that are part of the #ActivityPub realm.
What are some of your favorite ActivityPub handles to follow on #Funkwhale, #Peertube, #Pixelfed, #Bookwyrm, #Wordpress, #Truefans, #Castopod, #Akkoma, #Friendica, #Lemmy and others?
Your replies will be categorized by @jejord, @AileenLalor, @miaq and @marci so that we can feature these accounts to our Flipboard users and work to ensure they render properly on Flipboard.
I'm excited to help evangelize the many great projects here and advocate for their adoption and funding.
In case you missed it, #BookWyrm is the Fediverse's alternative to Amazon's Goodreads.
BookWyrm lets you keep track of what you're reading, publish book reviews and discover new books from other people's recommendations. It's part of the Fediverse, so you can follow BookWyrm accounts from Mastodon etc. More info at:
There are BookWyrm servers where you can sign up at:

Leia wants to read Upon a Burning Throne by Ashok K. Banker
A fantasy based off of Sanskrit mythology? Could be queerer, but that's enough to get it in my TBR. ^_^
I've mentioned this before, but I like using Bookwyrm as it gets me to update the Open Library entries so it looks nice once I import it here.

An obfuscating flood of names
3 stars
Much improved on the first book, though still too much banter and an obfuscating flood of names & places.
Reading time 2 days, 166 pages/day

Musing about Bookwyrm. i have an account on Bookwyrm.social, which i abandoned when it wasn't federating properly and wasn't getting fixed after weeks. i now use sfba.club. it's got over a hundred users, but that's dwarfed by bookwyrm.social's thousands. and I'm easily one of the most active on sfba.club.
so here's what I'm noticing: bookwyrm has even more of a problem connecting people to the wider bookwyrm fediverse than mastodon does to the wider general fediverse. if a server doesn't see a post, it doesn't know about it.
in mastodon, boosts expand the network. a@server1 follows b@server2 and b follows c@server3. b boosts c and because of that, server1 knows about the post.
bookwyrm users don't boost that much, so cross server enrichment doesn't happen much. if i look at a particular book, i won't get the benefit of reviews from server3 because few if any boost from server2. setver1 …

small bookwyrm servers are even more starved than small mastodon servers.
