Autobiography of a woman who was a committed & diligent National Socialist (#Nazi), of her experience in youth work & propaganda, and her journey coming to terms with the truth of what she participated in. Description of the clinical dispossession of the Poles is disturbing (and new to me), as is the readiness with which everyday mediocre people were led into misguided beliefs, alternative facts & constrained thinking, to do prosaic work with horrifyingly evil outcomes.

Did you know that a movie accidentally used a thought to be lost?

historian Gergely Barki was watching "Stuart Little" when he saw it.

He had only seen a black-and-white photo before but knew at once that the art in one scene was "Sleeping Lady with Black Vase" by Róbert Berény.

The piece had been thought in !

It took 2 yrs to reach the former set designer. She had bought the piece for $500 in in '99.

It sold for $285,700 in 2014.

This is a painting "Sleeping Lady with Black Vase" by Hungarian painter Róbert Berény. It was painted between 1927-1928. It shows a woman, Berény's wife, sleeping on a sofa. She has the typical short bobbed hair of the twenties, strong eyebrows and red lips. She wears a grey and blue dress, her arms folded over her midsection as she reclines. Before her stands a table, of which we only see one corner. A yellow tablecloth is draped over it and on it, a big black vase. The vase and the woman compete for the focal point, but it is the yellow of the tablecloth that ultimately wins. The art style is early European art deco.
This is a still from the movie "Stuart Little" from 1999. It shows three people and Stuart. On the very left is Hugh Laurie, wearing a black suit, bowtie, and a crisp white shirt while smiling at Geena Davis to the very right, in her red cocktail dress and white pearls. In the middle of the two is Jonathan Lipnicki, aged 9, in a white suit with wide lapels, a white shirt and a black bowtie, looking at his right hand in which he holds animated mouse - dressed in an identical outfit to him - Stuart Little. Behind them is a fireplace and on the red wall above it, the famous painting.

May's My book is set in Poland & based on real events, written by Spanish author Mario Escobar. I think this is going to be a pretty dark story.
