The Da Vinci Code follows "symbologist" Robert Langdon and cryptologist Sophie Neveu after a murder in the Louvre Museum in Paris causes them to become involved in a battle between the Priory of Sion and Opus Dei over the possibility of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene having had a child together.

Great fun
Whether you have any belief in the central precepts of the story or not, it's a cracking good read. And it's an easy read too. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Abandoned this half-way through as the pace was incredibly slow and nothing seemed to be happening.
Absolutely the worst book I've read in a decade; the location of the Grail was obvious before the action had moved from the Louvre; the principal female protagonist is a French woman educated in Britain yet she speaks American English!
Dan Brown's incompetence is staggering. I was so embarressed to own a copy that I gave it away and I strongly resent ever having contributed to Brown's livelihood.
